GUEST SERVICE SALES REPRESENTATIVE - 2020

Start Date: March 2020

Schedule: Full Time/40 hours a week

DETAILS: The Whale Centre is seeking a Front Desk Agent for the 2020 season.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Maintains up to date product knowledge of our Adventure Tours.

  • Maintains proficiency with our digital booking software and consistently enters all important guest information.

  • Consistently collects full payment at the time of reservation for all activities sold

  • Ensures that the check-in process is both timely and simple for all guests

  • Accompanies guests to suit room and assists them in preparing for their experience

  • Responds politely and professionally to all inquiries while maintaining a focus on sales

  • Maintains ongoing communication with all other team members to ensure everyone is on the same page

  • Ensure office and surrounding dock space are kept clean and tidy

  • Close and settle electronic payments and balance day-end cash outs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dynamic personality, outgoing, and enjoys working with others

  • Demonstrates the proven ability to succeed as part of a team as well as a desire to influence company culture

  • Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English

  • Demonstrates superior attention to detail, commitment to quality, time management, and organizational skills

  • Complete daily task lists

  • Possesses the ability to think on their feet, prioritizing tasks to achieve specific goals

  • Must look forward to learning more about marine mammals, education, and ocean conservation

  • Available Saturdays, Sundays, evenings and holidays

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Past experience working in tourism or customer service is considered an asset.

  • Second language (German, French, etc) an asset.

Staff accommodation is available for Full Time Employment.

Wages: $16.00 an hour.

TOUR GUIDE/SKIPPER

Start Date: Spring 2020

Schedule: Full Time

DETAILS: The Whale Centre is seeking a Guide/Skipper for the 2020 season. The Whale Centre is looking for passionate people who can deliver the ultimate rugged West Coast marine experience for our guests, while maintaining professionalism and always putting safety first. This position has potential for summer/year round employment.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Passenger orientation

  • Safety procedures

  • Tour itinerary

  • Providing information regarding wildlife, environment and geography through tour

  • Responsible for keeping boat clean before and after tours

  • Obey all Maritime regulations and all Whale Wise rules

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Local marine knowledge of the area of operation

  • Radio Operators Certificate Marine (ROC-M)

  • Basic Marine First Aid

  • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)

  • Marine Emergency Duties (MED A-3)

  • Available Saturdays, Sundays, evenings and holidays

  • Passionate about the local marine wildlife and environment

  • Great communication, energetic and a team player

  • Care about guest experience

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience operating tour boats and wildlife guiding is strongly desirable
