    Whale Festival, mid-March to early-April -- Every spring, the world population of Pacific Grey Whales migrate along the west coast of Vancouver Island. Annually an estimated 19,000 Greys make the 16,000 km trip from their mating and calving lagoons on the Baja peninsula of northern Mexico to their summer feeding grounds in the Berlin and Chukchi seas off Alaska and Siberia.
