The Whale Centre offers bird watching tours on our sturdy but adventurous 30ft Boston Whalers with a centre consol, which allows our guides to give you an educational commentary throughout the trip. Our tour begins with a visit to an active bald eagle’s nest located in Tofino’s harbour.  This two-hour tour includes a trip to Cleland Island Bird Sanctuary an ecological reserve to view seabirds.  Some of the species you may see include Black Oystercatchers, Tufted Puffins, Marbled Murrelets and Rhinoceros Auklets. 

Don’t forget to bring your camera and binoculars!

For the true bird enthusiast we offer 6-hour pelagic tours for groups offshore to view and count seabirds and other marine wild life. A full on birder’s adventure! Two guides staff each trip and have extensive offshore experience and the knowledge necessary to locate and identify species. This tour is weather dependant.

*Reservations are recommended, especially during Spring Break, Holiday Weekends and July through September. We require a Visa or MasterCard number with expiry to hold your reservations, 24 hour cancellation policy. Check in 1/2 hour before departure.
